An intriguing and quick read about a possible not-so-distant future. I enjoyed the alternating storylines, the idea that we are all connected, and it made me wonder how many people would be in my City because I remember them.

After looking through other people's journal entries here on BC to see how they liked the book, I learned it grew from this short story in The New Yorker.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Well, when I read the synopsis of this book, I was really anxious to get the chance to read it! :)

The premises is very intriguing and grab your interest. It was a very small book though, and that didn't show promise with such a large concept.

And so it was. There were some interesting threads in. Conceptionally I found it fascinating with the side route before death in a city like your city that you stay in till the last person whom remembers you dies too.

But yeah, there just weren't enough pages to write out this concept properly, leaving far more questions on how this all works then it answers. There was so much potential but I just feel cheated at the end. :P

At any rate, there's someone else that wanted to give it a go. So off it goes to a new reader! ;)
