Thanks JesseBC, I am looking forward to reading this book.
It took me over two weeks to finish this book and it is not because the book was not interesting. I find that Irving's writing is quite dense and wordy and I had to slow down to catch the story. Slowing down was worth it I think, now I know much more about apples, obstetrics, and abortion than I ever wanted to know...
I have only read one other of Irving's books, A Prayer for Owen Meany, but again I felt thoroughly invested in the characters. I was cheering for Homer Wells, and I felt a genuine humanity in his character, flaws and all.
All in all this was a good read that I plan to pass on now that I have finished.
