A nice woman named Anna brought this to the last meetup at BookPeople but had forgotten to register it, so we're registering it from the Austin bookshelf.

I loved the main character in this book -- he made me chuckle to myself many a time while reading. Being vegetarian myself, I have to admit that I skimmed certain sections in the middle of the book (you'll see what I mean), but otherwise I loved every bit of it.

I do think that those who are more into religion will get more out of this than I did, but even if you don't consider yourself religious in any way, it's an interesting adventure story.

This book will be traveling on a bookray. Send me a private message if you're interested in participating. Please include shipping preferences if you have any.

Tips for successful participation in a bookray or ring:
  • As soon as you receive the book, add a journal entry so the sender knows it wasn't lost in transit.
  • Try to read the book within 1-3 months so those after you in the shipping order don't have to wait too long.
  • When you mail the book, add a journal entry with the date you mailed it. This will help me track it down with the postal service if it gets lost in transit.
Here are the BookCrossers who have expressed an interest in this bookray. We'll try to stick to this order if at all possible. When you're done, send a private message to the next person on the list and arrange to mail it to him or her. The last person on the list can pass it on to whomever they want. Enjoy!

Ok, after spending the greater part of my last two days dealing with snowstorm travel delays, I decided I would rather travel with a tiger for 7 months than travel with Northwest Airlines gate agents (OK, had to get that out of my system.)

So I read most of this book on my travels this weekend. Very creative and interesting, although there were points where I felt that the author tried to hard to be smart and symbolic. I enjoyed the book but was trying to think of a friend I could recommend it too- and I couldn't think of one person who would really enjoy it (but maybe that says more about me than the book!)

I had PMed the next person in line prior to my trip, so once I get an address it will move along.

Thank you veruca!

Update: Sent to Quez45 via media mail on 2/16. Happy reading!

What a great story! Be sure to read the discussion questions at the very end of the book. They will definitely provoke some thought about the main character and his journey. The thing I liked best about the book is Pi's open-mindedness about religion and the world. If he was a real person, I'd say he is very compassionate and is not one to judge.

This book is on it's way to momofap. Enjoy!

eep, I just received a book ring two days ago, and I am half way through a different ring...which means I am a book and a half behind before I can get to this one. I did not intend to go move slowly, but literally life got in the way for me this past month. I will try and get through the other two fast to get to this one. Sorry for the hold up though.

I loved this book so much. It is definitely not one to be judged by the cover. The back of the book doesn't even begin to describe what the book is all about. I also loved how Pi came to discover his God, it was so hilarious. Then there is the whole story of his relationship with the tiger as well, what I would do to travel with a tiger like that. As far as which story is the truth, I loved how he captures the ending with does it really matter in the end which is the truth? It really puts a lot into perspective for me about life and stories...in the end does it matter what you say if it doesn't help answer the original question? Well time to pass this book onto the next person.
