1972 The Water-Method Man [read 2010]

1973 Almost in Iowa (short story) [read 2013]
1974 Brennbar's Rant (short story in Playboy) [read 2011]
1976 The World According to Garp [read 2010]
1976 The Pension Grillparzer (novelette) [read 2013]
1980 Interior Space (novelette) [read 2013]
1981 The Hotel New Hampshire [read 2011]
1982 Trying to Save Piggy Sneed (short story) [read 2014]
1982 Other People's Dreams (short story) [read 2014]
1982 Gunter Grass: King of the Toy Merchants (essay) [read 2014]
1985 The Cider House Rules [read 2015]
1986 The King of the Novel (essay) [read 2021]

Edit February 1, 2022: This was really terrific, with a perfect ending which marvelously resolves the long, peculiar setup of the novel. This is one of my favorite books of all time, and made me a fan of John Irving, as I then dived into all his earlier books after first being amazed by this one. But this remains the best of them all. I loaned this to a girlfriend decades ago, and she was equally blown away by it. The drawback is that it runs very long. I skimmed for time on this read, and so I currently have this ranked at #3367 on my ranked list of best-read books lately, punished severely in my algorithm for being so extra long.
