Stolen from Tree-hugger during the bookswap game at the BC meet today. After I've read it I have promised to save it for her when we meet in April for Nu-knees.
This is a new author for me.

8 out of 10

Entertaining and page turning. I'll look out for the Salmon Fishing book.

I'd like to read the new one: The legacy of Hartlepool Hall - the extract looks really good and I'd quite like to know who the women is too!

I finally saw tree-hugger and caught up with the gossip from the Dublin Convention this afternoon! Sounds like a great event! Thank you tree-hugger for bringing this home for me. Thank you Cinderess for reserving it for me. Thank you ardachy for registering it and making it available in the first place!!
I've read several novels by Paul Torday and enjoyed each one in its different way:
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
The Girl on the Landing
The Irresistible Inheritance of Wilberforce
and a short novella called Breakfast at the Hotel Deja Vu on my Kindle :-)
All are highly recommended!
I look forward to seeing the film version of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen which looks to have an impressive cast list. I'm adding the DVD to my Christmas List on the assumption that it might be available by then ....

For a bet, an ex-soldier who's having trouble settling back into civilian life after active service in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, sets out to walk the 50 miles from London to Oxford in a little under 12 hours. On the way he gets kidnapped and, for a substantial reward, agrees to a sham marriage of convenience. On his wedding day .... But, No - this isn't a book that can be summarised. It's a book that has to be experienced!
Quote: " 'I know what I believe in, Richard,' she replied in a soft voice. 'And that is more than you can say. That is more than any of you can say.' "
This more-than-adventure story is a real page-turner. Working on the Last In, First Out principle and ignoring over a hundred books that are hanging around waiting for my attention, I started reading it almost as soon as I was given in - and have finished it already, within 24 hours. I hardly need add that I couldn't put it down!
Thanks again to all its previous keepers. I'm not sure what to do with it next. I want to encourage everybody to read it ....

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

The timing's approximate! I plan to be in York early afternoon and will call into the pub to check out the OBCZ windowsill at some point but I don't know quite when!

Over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 well over 9 million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!
Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't cost anything and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
