I wasn't convinced by the whole literary mash-up concept at first - for the first few chapters it looked like all Winters had done was a search and replace to insert types of robots where Tolstoy's text had servants. But eventually the story starts to diverge from the original (every so often converging again just enough to keep the plots roughly parallel), with conspiracies and alien invasions taking over from the social commentary.

In the end, it's a fun story, and an interesting gimmick. And definitely an easier read than the original!

Didn't notice this wasn't the classic novel until Futurecat pointed it out. Don't know if this will be funny or simply long.
