cover:
Lottie is living in her mother's house for the summer, refurbishing it so that it can be sold. The summer is in many ways a relief as her second marriage, barely begun, is in trouble. Afraid that she doesn't love her husband Jack in the way she would wish to, the space around her is filled with memories of her love as a daughter, as a sister and as a friend.
Cameron, Lottie's brother, has been in love with their neighbour Elizabeth since high school days, but in the intervening years Elizabeth married and had three children. Now, finally, they embark on a passionate affair. It is this kind of love, wild and romantic, that Lottie yearns for.
As Lottie, Cameron and Elizabeth are reunited they learn that complicated adult lives can offer opportunities to find not only great love, but also suffer great loss. And when a senseless tragedy intrudes upon them, Lottie is forced to examine the consequences of what she has done for love.
