I absolutely loved this book. I actually took notes as I was reading. I have read before about mindfulness, but never so clearly and simply. A great starting point for someone who is unfamiliar with meditation or Buddihism. Lots of great little tips and stories throughout the book. Very easy to read.

I'll be sending this out for the bookray within the week!

This was a great book-- very thoughtful and though-provoking. Some favorite quotes include:

The basic condition for being happy is our consciousness of being happy.

"There is no way to peace. Peace is the way."

Without being peace, we cannot do anything for peace.

Thank you so much, talon2claw, for turning this into a bookring and letting it circulate around the world!

I look foward to reading this. I've also read Living Buddha, Living Christ by Thich Nhat Hanh, and it was a beautiful inspirational book.

This is a beautiful book, I came close to crying at a few points. I read it slowly when I knew I could give it my full attention so I'd be sure to absorb every little bit. I'm going to have to pick up some more of Thich Nhat Hanh's books. I'll try to get this mailed off soon (it is the holiday season...).

I'm really sorry I've taken so long to get to this book, but this was a good time for me to read it. I don't know that I'll be able to retain a lot of specific information, but certainly I'll try to remember the essence of the message. I have been trying to find my own 'bell' to bring me back to my true self as the author explains, odd as it may seem, I think I'm going to use the sound of the toilet flushing. Another thing I'm going to practise is trying to be present in the moment when I'm with my children and not allow myself to be so distracted by other thoughts, problems, etc.
Need I say it? I love this book and will look for a copy to buy for myself. Thanks for sharing it!!

I've been enjoying this book for a couple of weeks and didn't even realize I hadn't made an entry yet. I've been finding myself too out of peace to really enjoy it, but I'm going to take a couple of days to re-read some passages that called out to me.

Journal Entry 19 by talon2claw from Akron, Ohio USA on Tuesday, September 13, 2005
The book has made its way back to me. I've got plenty of options on releasing it, including a mass release the Akron OH Bookcrossers are planning this month. Or it could go to another group of bookcrossers overseas!

Well, I've often wondered about Buddhism, we could all use some peace in life, and well the back mentions dirty dishes. A colleague was telling me today how dirty dishes turned her into a blubbering wreck this morning..I do it often....figured I needed to read it...
