Brought this becuase it's on the wishlist of someone I'm doing a christmas exchange with, thought I'd give it a read first :)

Journal Entry 2 by redfox5 at Sandhurst, Berkshire United Kingdom on Sunday, October 30, 2011
This is a funny little book. Can't help but feel it would have been much better if he'd been a breast on an actual woman, instead of a free floating breast because that just didn't make any sense whatsoever.

Journal Entry 4 by Danielle23 at Sunderland, Tyne and Wear United Kingdom on Sunday, December 25, 2011
Thank you so much redfox5 and a very Merry Christmas. This book will go straight to the top of my TBR pile.

Thank you also for the other gifts; the nutcrackers are on my tree, the chocolate reindeer is in my tummy and the teabags are waiting next to the new teapot I received from a friend this morning. Thank you so much xx

An easy to read, small book that I read in one sitting. Very strange though and I would have liked a little more explanation as to what had happened or even what could have happened later. I seem to find all of Philip Roth's books a little hard to connect with but this one was something else.

Thanks so much for the wishlist book redfox5. I will offer this up as a bookray to see if there is any interest from other 1001 readers.

This was very short and it was extremely bizarre. I liked it a lot. It's about a man who is transformed overnight into a giant breast. The book is written from the man's/breast's point of view. It's funny but really very good at the same time. You have to wonder how he thought it up though...

I've already been in touch with pinkydinky so I'll get it posted off soon.

Received the book a few weeks ago, thank you mafarrimond, and only just found it under a pile of (untouched) school books. What a quirky little book! Short, thankfully, the sex bits were quite dreadful though it had its funny moments too. I do prefer Gogol's The Nose though...

Off to the next!

Thank you very much, Danielle23, for including me in another of your bookrings.

And Thank you very much, Pontmercy, for posting and using stamps on the envelope.

Journal Entry 22 by Simson-Shilitoe at Neewiller-près-Lauterbourg, Alsace France on Thursday, July 5, 2012
This is a truly bizarre book. Why Roth would choose to write a story about a man turning into a breast is beyond me (a fan of Kafka I guess) A quick read that if you don't like it, you didn't waste too much of your time.

Posting to Tsjara as soon as I get an postal address.

The book arrived here safely. (Nice stamps!) Thanks a lot for sending the book, the chocolate and the lovely card Simson-Shilitoe! :)
I'm quite curious about this little book, sounds uhm.. interesting..
Thanks Danielle23 for organizing the bookray!

Journal Entry 25 by Tsjara at Assendelft, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Wednesday, July 25, 2012
Well.. this was a very strange little book, I'm glad it was short. Not sure what the point of the story was, it didn't seem to go anywhere..(or maybe there isn't). He just changes into a (woman's) breast and keeps ranting and going a bit crazy/paranoid (why did he change into a breast? Will he stay like that for ever?). But Roth does have a nice writing style (even if the sentences were a bit long sometimes).

Safe travels little book!

I have to love the Netherlands post, every time I ship to or receive something from them it arrives with the speed of light :)

Thanks Tsjara for sending me this quirky little one, I have two other small ones that I should read before it, but then again weekend's almost here, and it looks like one or two hours will be enough for it. Love the stamps, too :)

Journal Entry 28 by lamelemon at București, Wallachia Romania on Friday, August 3, 2012
An interesting, absurd little book, though I have to disagree with the ones who reviewed it as funny. I found the sexual part bearable and not offensive, as I'm sure some might. What I liked the most was the way the main character was challenging his own sanity.

Eventually I can say it did make me curious to read the books it claimes were its sources, novels like Kafka's Metamorphosis or Gogol's Nose. The funny thing is I'm also currently reading Apuleius' Golden Ass, which talks about a transformation of its own..

Thanks for making me a part of this book's journey. It marks my 99th read on the combined 1001 list. Now PMing the next in line, this little one will most probably be on the road again at the beginning of next week.

What a weird book. It wasn't even very good, just a guy ranting on and on and on... after he turns into a breast. I don't get why this book is on the 1001 books list.

Journal Entry 33 by eparks4232 at Elkins Park, Pennsylvania USA on Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Received a few days back. Will be interesting to see what I think. I tend to like Roth, but this isn't exactly typical Roth, so we'll see. It's a quick 1001 option, which is always nice.
