Picked this up at the used bookstore in town. Its destination is Los Angeles, where trekwoman, my Halloween Book and Treat Exchange partner lives. Enjoy!

Thank you so very much for sending this fun envelope with one of my favorite novelists EVER, and a packet of gummies (which, I am almost ashamed to say, are completely gone. But I wasn't the only one eating them).

I used to live in Illinois and haven't been back since moving to California. This was almost like a little care package from home. :)

7 out of 10

Stuck at home in bed with a terrible cold and naught to do. Read Rebus! This one was jam-packed with characters, situations, old friends, love interests and even ghosts. Rebus confronts friends and foes from his past, tries to help find a missing kid (well, two, actually, one he knows and one he doesn't), protect a "reformed" pedophile from a group of angry parents and deal with everything else that comes down the pike.

I felt this novel had a bit too much going on. There were so many characters I felt confused at times. I wondered if the Cary Oakes character was inspired by Andrew Cunanan, the spree killer in late 1990's United States. Still, couldn't wait to pick it back up after putting it down (just to eat and sleep and blow my nose a million times).
