Arrived already, safe and sound! I used to love the TV-series. It went on and on, so it will most certainly make interesting reading to hear how it was for "Laura" to grow up in the Little House on the Prairie.
Thank you so much flossie771 for sending it!

Poor Little Rich Girl. Adopted a day old end never gotten over it, always seeking approval, love and praise. Always told to smile no matter what and be the best of everything. Add hereditary alcoholism and the soup is ready.
Michael Landon and the Little House seemed to bring her the right kind of family life as her adoped mother seemed to think only about herself and her long line of husbands - although she was always there for her when Melissa had yet again screwed up her life.
Very honest about drugs, booze and not-so-safe sex, flings, affairs and heartbreaks. The list of men she hasn't slept with in Hollywood is rather short and she almost always had something going on with the leading men while on location. Among those who "only" fancied her were Don Johnson, George Clooney, Kiefer Sutherland and Bill Clinton. Money certainly does not guarantee happiness.
The only boring part was the time she went into Screen Actors Guild's politics, dirty and unpleasant as politics everywhere.
Interesting read and a book I will hold onto for the time being.

I found another copy of this book, so I can part with this one... Annelis took this from our Vuosaari meet-up. Enjoy!
I am sure I'll enjoy this book. Thank you very much for the book, Kirjakko!
NBC News, August 2015: "Melissa Gilbert announced Monday her candidacy to represent Michigan's 8th congressional district as a Democrat, the seat currently held by Republican Mike Bishop."

A very interesting book except the politics part which she seems to continue still. It is not good to grow up sheltered in an unreal world and not to face the difficulties that everybody has. As adults people like that try to cover the problems by partying way too much. It does not really help at all.
I remember the series Little House on the Prairie. At that time I was still watching TV. Later I found I have no time for that - I mean watching TV.
It was interesting to find out how the film actors had to go auditioning almost every time for getting a role in a film. I thought that the they were chosen because they were famous and because they had been seen in earlier roles. But they had to go to for auditioning even though they were famous. I guess it is still that way. I wonder how they manage their work at all as they are partying so much. No wonder they have to have many facial surgeries. Heavy partying would show on their faces without surgeries.

Thank you for giving this to me Annelis! I loved this tv series too as a kid. It'll be interesting to read more about her life!
I read this book a whil back, but didn't get around journaling it. I enjoyed reading all the behind the scenes stuff about the people, tv-series and films I knew about. The politics part was not the best part of the book, but I found it interesting too.
