I read "Rush Home Road" some years ago. I don't really remember the plot but I do remember that I really liked reading it.

Thanks so much for this generous RABCK - a book from my wishlist! I can't wait to read this - and will do so quite soon because I already promised the book to Lilo37fee (as part of the wishlist tagging game in the forum).

Just finished reading the book and I liked it a lot. For me, it was a very dangerous book because I would be so thoroughly lost in the story that I'd forget everything else around me and hours would pass... :)
The last 10 pages or so were a little too much for my taste - I guess I'd have preferred a different ending.

8 out of 10

This book tells the story of a lonely 70-year-old woman, living in a trailer park near Lake Erie. She sudenly has to take care of the long-neglected five year old neighbour girl Sharla. The presence of Sharla who is not in the beginnig a very lovable girl brings back all the long forgotten memories of Addy´s harsh life. It is awfully depressing, because Addy suffered a lot. It is hard to believe that all this can be endured.
B ut the book is also optimistic, because it speaks about the power of love, that can grow where you don´t expect it. It left me in tears.
I really liked it a lot.

I was quite surprised that the writer is white.

3rd of March 2012: The book is on it´s way to Jotka, who won it in the March-tombola. Enjoy!
