I just finished this fiction novel by Justin Taylor, "The Gospel of Anarchy." It was a book filled with bitingly sharp, beautifully descriptive prose, but it lacked the essence to keep me entranced in it for any other reason than I just wanted to see it through. I'm a fairly accomplished reader of many genres of fiction and nonfiction, but I felt like I was wading through quicksand. The language that was genius in its beauty was maybe too overdone to help me move through the book at a pace that kept me wanting to return to it. I slogged through its nearly 240 pages by force of will alone. I just wanted to finish the book, so I could get on to the next one. Whew, glad that's over.
What I did like about it was that it was set in Gainesville, Florida, a college town not far from Jacksonville, where I lived for nearly a decade in total.

Imagine my surprise as a BookCrossing member from years past, to find that there was already a BookCrossing zone established for where I work. Releasing it this evening to whomever wants to continue the reader's journey.
