American Gods

I bought this used book today in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA. I have another copy of this that I read in 2003, so this is available.
Much of this book is set in Wisconsin, where I live. The House on the Rock is a well-known landmark, which I have never felt the need to pay admission for. However, I have canoed the Wisconsin River a few times, passing the bottom of the bluff on which The House on the Rock is built, as shown in the photo.

The book was mailed today to someone in Ontario, Canada, as part of JudySlump612's Superluminal VBB.
I chose this book from JudySlump612's NPR SF/Fantasy VBB. I've enjoyed very much every Gaiman book I've read so far, and I look forward to reading this one. Thank you, TomHl, for offering this book and sending it so promptly!
I'm sorry I had kept this copy of American Gods on my shelf for such a long time. This book follows ex-convict Shadow’s journey with Mr. Wednesday, recruiting help in an imminent war between the old gods and new gods of America. It was great fun to encounter the various gods, some of which were familiar, and some of which were new to me. I liked seeing Gaiman’s interpretation of their American incarnation. He seems to view America with both bemusement and fondness. I'm glad I had read Gaiman's Sandman series last year, as that gave me an introduction to as well as a visual image of a number of the gods.
Thanks again to TomHl for registering this book and passing it on to me. I also appreciated seeing your beautiful photo of the Wisconsin River.

I've passed this book to another BookCrosser!
