Prime Minister Edward Clare and his wife Adele Floret-Glare live at Number 10 Downing Street. PC Jack Sprat is the policeman who stands outside on the door.

Fire years ago, Edward Clare was voted into Number 10 after a landslide election result. But now, things are starting to go wrong. The love has gone. The people are turning. In short, it's a very real problem.

Edward worries about this. Has he accomplished anything? All he wants is for the people of Clare's Britain to like him, and for them to be happy. How can he find out what they really think? He enlists the help of Jack Sprat and together they travel around the country incognito, ending up at Jack's childhood home. His mother Norma lives in Leicester, and her address is Number 10 too, but that's where the similarity ends...

I found the book at the book-swapping shelf at the nearby library. I've previously read this and enjoyed it as well.

I read the enjoyable book quite fast. The story was entertaining but also contained a lot of critique of the British society. The overall feeling of the book was pretty sad and pessimistic, but Jack Sprat suddenly falling in love gave hope to the reader.

Quite peculiar a book, probably not full comprehensible for anyone but british. The prime minister dresses himself up as a woman and takes a tour on the countryside. A satire?
