Journal Entry 4 by Cassiopaeia at Cardiff, Wales United Kingdom on Friday, December 30, 2011
This was certainly an intriguing little play and very close to the autobiographical bone. It seems it was rejected by WB Yeats for The Abbey as it wasn't of the right ilk for that theatre. The mind boggles at what Irish audiences would have made of it in 1917! The play itself is only about 112 pages but Joyce did manage to pack an enormous amount of emotion and soul searching in to it's three short acts. So glad to have read this, many thanks for bringing it to the Uncon.
