The Duke and I (Bridgerton Series, Book 1)

This novel is the first in the Bridgerton series of the Bridgerton family and friends, set in the Regency England. The events take place in 1813.
Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, decide to join forces. They pretend to have formed an attachment to each other. Daphne can look over the season's crop of eligible bachelors in peace from her matchmaking mama and Simon can avoid all the matchmaking mamas as he has no plans of marrying, ever. But, as usual, all good plans...
Julia Quinn has a very funny and light way of writing, and especially her dialogue is very witty. A true pleasure to read - and I had to re-read the book just one more time before I loaned it to my friend - and makes you feel good. As a Regency romance should.

Got this book from a friend for the ABC-challenge. I told her I hadn't read Julia Quinn before but I think I have - this writing is very distinctive. Strong heroine and hero in personal distress :)
I enjoyed this book because of the whole environment for the story. The characters themselves were a bit boring but I loved the reality of athmosphere descriptions. They were absolutely marvellous! Thanks for sharing this book!
