John and Lise try to find who is trying to kill a young woman with amnesia. The plot moves through the local biker connections, gruesome Palo Mayombe rituals, and the slippery, sad trials John endures with his wife Catherine.
The author shows the depth of love between John and his wife, who struggles with bipolar manic depression. The emotions of those characters ring true and not saccharine which evokes empathy for them.

Taking the book to the Calgary BC Meetup today at the Joshua Tree Cafe.
I continue on with the John Cardianl story with anticipation.
I found this one a little darker, but took a break and read a light one, then was able to finish it. Passing it on to Crossinguardsma as she is at my place.
Got this book, the third in a series from a friend. Grabbed it and started reading and just realized I haven't journaled it yet.
So far so good but really glad that the bug season is over because the black flies in this book can make you squirm!

Finished the book in the middle of the night. Enjoyed the 3rd book in the series.... be warned that there is a preview of his next book at the end so the book isn't as long as you think.
Off to bookcrossing meeting to find a home with someone who wants the third book.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing November meet-up. Whoo, the next installment in the John Cardinal series!
Kind of creepy with the voodoo stuff. The neat thing that Blunt does is that he doesn't write the story completely from Cardinal's point of view. You have the killers' points of view, too, so you don't spend the entire novel wondering who the murderer is. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes with Cardinal's wife.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Releasing this book at the Calgary BookCrossing January meet-up. If it didn't go home with somebody it's on the bookshelf.
Picked up at the January meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, held at the Joshua Tree Café.
Blunt sets his highly acclaimed Cardinal and Delorme series in Canada's remote Algonquin Bay, which is far from civilization (the closest city, Toronto, is 250 miles to the south), far from prosperous, and filled with such daily-living challenges as relentless winter storms followed by the spring arrival of rapacious black flies. The locals' obsession with protecting themselves from the onslaught of the flies makes them all the more shocked when a woman enters a bar, seemingly oblivious to the fact that she's covered in fly bites. The woman has no idea where she is, or who she is, and when the cops take her to the hospital, doctors discover that her thick red hair has been obscuring a bullet hole in her skull--the bullet lodged in her brain is responsible for her amnesia. Series homicide detectives John Cardinal and Lisa Delorme take on the case, which links to a vicious motorcycle gang and a series of ritualistic murders.

Should have made a JE right away, as now I can't remember most of the story. I do know I enjoyed it, though, despite some of the grusome moments!
Will bring to the April meet-up for the next in line.

Taking the book to the Calgary BC Meetup at the Joshua Tree Cafe today.
Picked up at today's meeting, adding to my tbr pile.
This one has been on my bookshelf way too long and the thing is I don't know why, these are such enjoyable books. I love that you know who the killer is and can watch things start to come together and try and figure out all the links before the detectives do.
Taking this book to January's "Lions and Tigers and Bears" meeting. While Blackflies are not as dangerous as Lions, they certainly get in more bites.

Picked this up at the January book crossing meeting. Book three in the series...better get busy and read book two.
I enjoyed this book very much. A bit more graphic then I would like with the Palo Mayombe stuff but there were funny parts as well.
I am enjoying the series very much and look forward to reading the next one

Picked this up at the meeting so that all would be at the same place since I have the first one and my housemate has the second.
