Lush Life (Unabridged, 11 CDs)
8 journalers for this copy...
Found this on a recent foray to HalfPriceBooks in West Des Moines - actually netted seven titles for a mere $20..... Plan to listen to soon.....
The gritty "street-savvy" narration of this reminds me a bit of novels I've listened to by George Pelecanos; the candid style of talking amongst the NYC cops as they investigate and interrogate is striking, too.....
One of the reasons I'd picked this out is because it's also the title of a John Coltrane album on Prestige from the fifties - that's an indicator of how my mind works.
I could also really relate to the father whose son was murdered - he kept looking for some type of closure.
will release soon......

Putting into the bookbox.
This book enjoyed a brief stop in San Jose, CA before continuing its journey in the Audio Bookbox!
This is one of six "survivors" that made it to me after postal gremlins played mischief with BigJohnLefty's Audio Bookbox. :-( This looks like something I may enjoy so I will put it in my "ear-reading" stash. Thanks for sharing!
I picked this book up on a whim, trying out an author I hadn't experienced yet. I liked it better than I thought I would. A good, gritty street story that takes place in the Lower East Side of NYC. Three guys, out drinking on the town, are suddenly faced with a mugging that goes bad. One victim is shot dead. One victim can't remember the details and faces accusations. It's up to Detectives Matty and Yolanda to solve the case.
What kept me fully engrossed, in this Richard Price murder-mystery, was the array and diversity of major and minor characters, their individual stories and the subplots. If you are a fan of stories about "street life" or enjoy George Pelecanos' novels, you will like this book.

Sending this audiobook to Booklady331. She picked this one off the CD Only VBB list. Happy Travels! Happy Reading!
Arrived today. The label gave me a pause when I say BigJohnLefty's name on it. He and I exchanged a lot of books. Rest in peace, BigJohnLefty. You are missed her on BC. Thank you for sending it to me. The package was ripped in a few places, so glad it made it to my mailbox.
I just could not get into this book. Since I have so many to read, I will move this one along.
Enjoy! KTM RABCK to jlautner for the CD only VBB
Arrived a couple of days ago, along with several calendar pages of jokes and cartoons. Thank you!
It has unfortunately been several months now since I listened to this and while I remember "not tonight, my man" I don't remember a lot of other details.
There are several versions of what happened that night, told by others. While promising, it didn't grab me the way I thought it would.
