From the cover:
Mimi Shapiro needs to get away. From New York City. From NYU. And from the professor who let things go too far. So when her artist father offers his cottage in a remote part of Canada, she gladly makes the long drive up north. The little house is fairy-tale quaint, and the key is hidden right where her dad said it would be, so Mimi is shocked to find someone already living there - Jay, a young musician, who immediately accuses her of leaving strange and threatening tokens for him: a dead bird, a snake skin, a cricket soundtrack embedded in his latest composition. But Mimi has just arrived, so who is responsible? And more alarmingly, what does the intruder want?
This is an excellent, scary mystery that had me flipping pages as fast as I could. It is rated YA but this is scary enough to be adult.

That was quick! Thanks a lot for sending rureading, and your lovely card :)
I haven't read scary stories in quite a while (though I used to love them when I was little), and this one sounds interesting.. Looking forward to read it.

This wasn't quite the scary, supernatural kind of story I was expecting, but I enjoyed it very much nonetheless. The ending did get quite suspenseful though.
At first I wasn't sure I would like Mimi, but after a while she started to grow on me. I liked Cramer a lot too and felt sorry for him.
The house on the snye* sounds like a lovely place, I wouldn't mind staying there myself.
* Had to look up what a snye is (used quite a lot in the book). It's a Canadian word, meaning a side-channel, esp. one that later rejoins the main stream.

Thanks Tsjara! This sounds pretty good.
I read this in Feb but forgot to journal it - This was a kind of fun slightly creepy stalker kind of book. I thought the relationships were a little contrived.
