Steampunk, quite good - reserved for YA VBB

Product Description
Fever Crumb is a girl who has been adopted and raised by Dr. Crumb, a member of the Order of Engineers, where she serves as apprentice. Soon though, she must say good-bye to Dr. Crumb--nearly the only person she's ever known--to assist archeologist Kit Solent on a top-secret project. As her work begins, Fever is plagued by memories that are not her own, and Kit seems to have a particular interest in finding out what they are. Fever has also been singled out by city dwellers, who declare that she is part Scriven. The Scriveners, not human, ruled the city some years ago but were hunted down and killed in a victorious uprising by the people. If there are any remaining Scriven, they are too be eliminated. All Fever knows is what she's been told: that she is an orphan. Is Fever a Scriven? Whose memories does she hold? Haunting, arresting, and astonishingly original, Fever Crumb will delight and surprise readers at every fast-paced, breathless turn.

Love the cover on this book, and the teaser blurb has me hooked. Thanks for the steampunk book from your YA VBB, Minerva101.

Journal Entry 4 by wingrureadingwing at Calgary, Alberta Canada on Friday, December 9, 2011
I rated the book a 10 just by the cover alone but there is a steampunk dystopian story that is easily a 10 rating as well. I loved this story of Fever Crumb in a decrepit London with bastardized names, colourful characters, inventive mechanics - loved the paperboys - and as a treat just for the reader: the clever use of font for names of characters and boroughs.
I had to force myself to slow down and savor this book so I didn't rush through it. I'm getting a PC copy and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Thanks for the super read, Minerva101.

Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing January meet-up. I love steampunk and I've never heard of this book before, so it should be good.

Excellent book. I loved the setting. Futuristic, steampunk-y London. Awesome! I loved new English language the author created, too. Words become twisted into something else and it's fun trying to figure out what the original phrase was. Where's the rest of the series?

Picked up at get together

This was a very interesting idea. I liked the random references to way back in history (our time - a religious procession chanting Hari Potter), and it was interesting to see the random technology they all seemed to have, although they didn't really seem to understand how it all worked. I wasn't really sure where the story was going, and it seemed a bit random, but I quite liked Fever and some of the other characters.

Thanks for the interesting read.
