Journal Entry 1 by Viikka1 from Turku, Varsinais-Suomi / Egentliga Finland Finland on Sunday, September 4, 2011
After the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina and the manmade explosion at the vampire summit, everyone—human and otherwise—is stressed, including Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who is trying to cope with the fact that her boyfriend Quinn has gone missing.
It’s clear that things are changing—whether the weres and vamps of her corner of Louisiana like it or not. And Sookie—Friend to the Pack and blood-bonded to Eric Northman, leader of the local vampire community—is caught up in the changes.
In the ensuing battles, Sookie faces danger, death, and once more, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood finished flowing, her world will be forever altered.

This one arrived today, thanks Jujuks!
Sorry it took forever to have this book moving!
I liked this one better than most of the previous ones, here was again some good humour, action and most of all, Sookie has grown a backbone! Wow! I truly liked that nice little twist in the very end and I'm looking forward for reading the next book! :)

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I'll meet Kemppu in our local meeting, so finally this book continues its journey!
Sookie's here! Thanks!
A bunch of smaller and bigger troubles are in Sookie's way in this book, but she manages to overcome them one by one. Very good for Sookie!
I still don't like Alcide and the rest of the werewolves, they've been nothing but nuisance and danger to Sookie from the beginning. But I do like Sam and I'm always glad to read more about him.
The last chapters left me waiting for more, again.
Just a side note: In previous Sookie books her faith is not really mentioned (or I don't remember really noticing it), but in this book her church going and evening prayers are mentioned quite often. I wonder if Harris has felt that she has to emphasize Sookie's Christianity when she has so much supernatural stuff and so many supe people in her life...
I'll try to send the book on asap.

Sorry, I forgot to tell that I sent the book to TracyW already! So it's on its way.

I felt this book was badly plotted. The wedding at the start appeared to bear no relationship with the rest of the story. Quinn doesn't show up, but there's no big revelation like this, it seems like Charlaine Harris is just changing her mind about love interests (and there's some more Bill, ugh). There's Bob the cat, a bit of plot moving along there. There's an attempted werewolf take-over. There's Jason having marriage problems. There's all sorts of bits and pieces like this and they never come together. Perhaps Harris is building up for a grand finale in a few books time, but I find myself doubting it.
Also, a new vampire group takes over the existing guys, by killing them, and no one before or after suggests going to the cops? What was the point of vampires "coming out"? Harris has set up this really interesting potential situation of conflict between vampire culture and modern American-day society with civil rights and ideas about equality, and she just keeps ignoring it, in favour of said vampires playing out standard fantasy ideas as if there were no police! Aarrrgghh!
Plus how Crystal's family copes with marriages is absolute nonsense.
