From the cover -
What does it take to make us believe in the impossible?
For Dr. Alfred Jones, life is a quiet mixture of civil service at the National Centre for Fisheries Excellence and marriage to Mary - an ambitious, no-nonsense financier. But a strange turn of fate from an unexpected direction forces James to upend his existence and pursue another man's ludicrous dream. Is salmon fishing in the Yemen impossible? Maybe nothing is.
I'd heard here on BC that this is a very good book. I enjoyed it, although perhaps it would be more amenable to a Brit. It's a satire on political spin and government meddling in private affairs. It was an enjoyable book; I think the format of diary entries and interviews made it a quick read. I wouldn't class it as a great book, just enjoyable - something different for me to read.
Hoping the next reader enjoys it also, perhaps more than I did. (Politics bores me, and this book proves that politics influences where it has no business interfereing.)

Thanks soooo much for tagging me.
Then I read the book which is probably slightly better than the movie but still rather so so & again 'Light Fare' as far as a good novel goes.
For me one of the plus'es about the book was that it portrait the Islamic World / Religion in a somewhat unbias, sympathetic manner. Also at times it was slightly amusing albeit somewhat 'corny'.
I was not at all keen on the format of this novel - the author feeds us the information via snippets of letters written / emails / diaries / & recorded interviews so I never really felt that I 'got into the story'...
In a nutshell - a quick read but somewhat uninspiring....
