Journal Entry 1 by potok-fan from Turku, Varsinais-Suomi Finland on Friday, August 19, 2011
Despite all the hype, I put off reading this for ages because I'd been told it was violent. I just can't stomach even the violence that other people don't mind so much... But my cousin got married this summer, and her wedding invitation arrived lined with a page from this book. It was through this book that she and her husband met, so Mr P and I decided we really ought to read it before the wedding. I would agree that it's violent, but also that it's "several cuts above most thrillers" with a complex plot. Still not sure that I'm going to read the second in the series, though. However, I laughed at the pictures of the three front covers for the trilogy (inside the back cover) - the dragon is slowly creeping up Salander's back and over her shoulder towards her chest!
