The God of Small Things (1997) is the debut novel of Indian author Arundhati Roy. It is a story about the childhood experiences of fraternal twins whose lives are destroyed by the "Love Laws" that lay down "who must be loved, and how, and how much". The book is a description of how the small things in life affect people's behavior and their lives. The book won the Booker Prize in 1997. (Wikipedia)

Danke!
I finally got around to reading this book. And what a great read it was. The writing style is quite different, but it made the read more interesting. I was laughing out loud on several occasions. But then, the story is really quite sad. I learned 2 things from this book:
1) Kids can take small things that adults say and make something huge out of it. That' is really quite scary considering that I have 2 children myself!
2) inequality of races exists everywhere. Black and white in the US, German and immigrant in Germany, Touchables and Untouchables in India. To this day. How can that be? When will humanity finally learn that human is human, no matter where or when we are born, which family we come from and what color our skin has? I found that the most shocking discovery of the book.
Will try to pass it on soon.
