The author is a professor of clinical neurology and he recounts the most interesting case histories that he has encountered in his career.

This book contains a comprehensive survey of the various types of neurological impairments that can occur and shows how they affect people afflicted with these impairments. Typical pathological neurological impairments can be classified as a deficit or an excess of neurological functioning. The author also presents some cases that he labels "transports" that are harder to classify but where an organic cause can result in altered perceptions and effects on reminiscence, imagination and dreams. Finally, the author describes some cases where the individual presented comes from "the world of the simple'". I learned a lot from this book and it gave me cause to rethink some issues concerning quality of life experience, etc.
