I'll be celebrating my 8th BC birthday on August 29th.

I was introduced to Pratchett thanks to you, fellow bookcrossers !

And this summer I'm reading the books I haven't read so far :-)

To tell the truth, I bought them all online... Er, don't tell my banker ;-)

So, all the books will be turned into international bookrings from September onwards...

Received from Miss bilbi as part of a TEN book package. A truly awesome feat of Bookcrossing! I cannot stress enough how impressed I am with these packages! Thank you so much! I have added a French comment in deference to your Gallic awesomeness although I fear it is only an auto-translation and as a consequence won't make sense at all.

Went to pick this one up at the post office today. Thanks! I've got a couple Pratchett ray books I'm working on already and a few more on the way so I'll get working on these and getting them on their way just as quickly as I can.

Not my favorite Pratchett book so far. It was definitely good and I enjoyed the story but it didn't feel much like Discworld with the other characters I've come to love. Seems like a jump ahead quite a bit in the series with this one and missed a lot of what happened in between.

Arrived in the mail today, together with two other Discworld books and hot on the heels of two other books. I'll get to these over the next few weeks and then pass them along.

Early in this book, it becomes clear that it is a follow-up to the story of Moist von Lipwig in “Going Postal”, which I have not yet read. But even though I don’t have all the back story from that earlier novel, this was a highly entertaining novel. Von Lipwig’s success in turning the Ankh-Morpork’s Post Office into a thriving business has left him bored and desperate for challenges. So when he suddenly finds himself in charge of the Anhk-Morpork Royal Bank and Mint, he immediately seizes the challenge of reinventing the city’s currency.

But not everyone is thrilled by his plans. The Chief Cashier, who is, well, peculiar, believes that the value of the currency can only rest on the value of the gold in the bank’s vault. And the extended family that has traditionally controlled the bank are furious that the control has passed to an outsider. On top of that, an unfriendly face from his past has resurfaced and is threatening to publicly reveal his criminal past. So, in addition to saving the city’s economy, he also needs to find a way to stay alive.

Pratchett’s customary humor is well and truly on display here, in a satire that touches on issues of monetary policy and national economics. Along the way, we get amusing looks at the final resting place of a centuries dead wizard, the trouble caused by the sudden appearance of an army of ancient golems, and a visit to the Fool’s Guild. Great fun!

Okay, my daughter has been holding on to this (and a couple of other) Pratchett book, hoping to read them. After discussing it with her, it turns out that she was just having trouble getting into these, so it is time for them to move along.

Mailing these to Finland.

This was so much fun! Again, a different point of view through the Discworld looking glass. One of my favourites this far.
