Element of Doubt
2 journalers for this copy...
At the library book sale they had some bundles of books from different mystery series' (2-8 books, depending) for $.50. How could I resist? This series sounded like one I might enjoy, so I picked up a couple of bundles because the price was right.
Murder Most British -- Det. Insp. Luke Thanet is called in on the case of the homebreaker and the surgeon she married.

I love this little series and wish more people knew about it. I love the way Thanet works through real life cases that are based on talking to people and asking the right questions. And I like that in this book he went through some personal growth in his marriage and became more enlightened (and he was already pretty enlightened). The mystery was well-done and the people were interesting, as always. An enjoyable quick read for a couple nights of insomnia.
Adding this to the Mystery VBB -- pleased that I basically traded it for another by the same author that I haven't read!
This book was not selected from the Mystery VBB after two rounds, so I will withdraw it from the list and find another way to share it with future readers.

Thank you very much for sending this book my way. Both books arrived at the same time and I am happy to have them, thank you!
The mystery itself was good, but the book was much too chatty; explaining, philosophizing, pondering, more explaining.
Looks like someone heaved Mrs. Tarrant over the balcony and there she lies on the patio below with her neck broken. Mrs. Tarrant was not a well-liked woman, but who is the one who hated her enough to push her over?
