Quite an interesting novel, I have to say. I'm not sure how much I liked it; it was a bit weird. The voice of the narrator, the author in this case, was really peculiar. Actually I liked it. It gave me an impression that the author was somewhat remote viewing the characters from distance. At some points the author came a bit closer creating an interesting effect by spoiling the illusion of the reality of the characters (how they were born etc.). I also liked various philosophical thoughts about life, especially happiness. The social and historical background was to be taken into account which was a bit challenging for me.
I couldn't get into the Body & Soul or Light & Weightness stuff; neither did I work out the meaning of all those descriptions of sexual intercourse. Power relations, perhaps? What was the meaning of Sabina's hat, for example? I should have concentrated more on those perhaps.
I'm taking part on the Alphabetical challenge with this book. Kundera stands for K.

I have known about the existence of this novel for many years. Now I have it in my hands! Thank you very much for the book and the beautiful book sign, Joika!
Somehow this was not my cup of tea or whatever. I did only read bits of the book and decided not to read all. I don't like many descriptions of sexual intercourse at all. Did Kundera think he attracts more readers that way? Not me anyway.
