I was alerted that there were many Star Trek books released in the library BC trolley, so naturally I had to go check them. :-)

Three hundred years ago, the U.S.S. Valiant was destroyed during an ill-fated attempt to cross the legendary Galactic Barrier. Starfleet had always assumed that the Valiant had perished with all hands aboard, until a pair of unusual humanoids arrive at Starbase 209, claiming to be the descandants of a handful Valiant survivors who found refuge on an M-class planet beyond the Barrier.

Even more shocking, the visitors warn that a hostile alien species, the Nuyyad, are preparing to invade the galaxy. Uncertain of how much of the strangers' story to believe, Starfleet orders the U.S.S. Stargazer to investigate at once.

It was funny to think Picard as a young man with a mop of hair :-) The plot was interesting enough; it didn't go as I expected, which was a good thing. There were connections to the TOS episodes "By any other name" and "Where no man has gone before", and now I want to watch them again.

The book was in my mailbox this evening. Thank you solaria. I've never read a Star Trek book before so I look forward to do it. Afterwards, I will send it out into the world again.
Thanks also for the nice Moomin cards. It made me very glad. Jag love Moomin.

Edit, my opinion: I did not actually think I would be so interested in a Star Trek book. But the story was good. Beginning with the captain blasting his spaceship in the air, but before then ordered his staff to abandon what makes the interest is growing for what happens next. Three hundred years later two people arrives to the earth and says that they come from an unknown residence built by survivors of the spacecraft. It is very interesting to follow all the feelings of distrust among the crew trying to find the place in space and how they manage all threats. It is fascinating to see how cooperation occurs despite the mistrust exists. A very entertaining book.
