recieved today, thanks :) I have to finish the book I'm reading first, then I'm straight onto this - though to be honest I'm looking forward to this so much I'm not sure I won't be tempted to ditch the current read and go straight to this instead...

I loved this book. I ate it all up really quickly, so sorry that it has taken me so long to post it on to the next person (I got the address, then a PM saying 'no please skip me' then I got the n ext persons address just before i left on holiday so only now had a chance to actually post the thing!) I had so many favourite bits it's hard to choose - I will definitly be buying my PC a copy of this - I just loved Caitlin's 'voice' which comes through so strongly. Of course I don;t agree with every little thing she says but I really enjoyed how she said it :) Thank you for sharing

Journal Entry 4 by Elisedal at Burry Port, Wales United Kingdom on Monday, October 03, 2011
I found this book to be a very easy read with some amusing parts. I find the book title to be unsuitably matched to the book and this book is certainly not a rewriting of feminism. It is a very personal memoir written by a newspaper columnist and that's it. Moran is a big Germaine Greer fan and although it has been a few years since I read 'The Female Eunuch' I am pretty sure that chapter four began with a misquote of Greer, which was slightly irritating. I found the chapter 'Abortion' where Moran writes very openly about her experience of abortion to be the part that most sticks in my mind. I think it's important that these experiences are shared. The description matches others I have read but it still had quite an effect on me. I would echo many other reviews of this book in saying that although I disagreed with quite a few points made by Moran I did find this book to be a fun read. It wasn't quite as good as expected but quite enjoyable overall.

Quite a chunk of this book felt like I should be in an audience listening to a feminist stand up act rather than sitting reading, but without the added enjoyment of a night out. On the other hand when Moran toned down the ranting/capitalization style she had some valid and interesting opinions. I agree wholeheartedly with her about the ridiculous amounts of money spent on the 'best day of your life'. And I love her take on name changing. 'I'm generally against anything where you're supposed to change your name. Where else do you get named something else? On joining a nunnery, or becoming a porn star. As an ostensibly joyful celebration of love, that's bad company to be in.' Thanks leamhliom, have PM greenbadger for details.

Received in a book ray, thank you very much to Cassiopeia. Absolutely loved this book. So many parts of it ring so true and yet it remains funny throughout. I think I love Caitlin Moran.

It was interesting but also infuriating. Feminism/Women's Lib has been around a while now and we're still bemoaning the sexism and double standards that exist. In many ways I think we women are our own worst enemies. We are the ones who buy those glossy magazines, wear ridiculous clothes, spend fortunes on weddings and beauty 'enhancements', etc., etc. If we stopped doing all this and forced the rest of the world to take us seriously and treat us respectfully, then things would change. I don't understand why this is an issue in this day and age. Anyway, as others have said, I didn't agree with everything but overall, it was enjoyable. I'll contact the next person in line and send the book out.
