Journal Entry 1 by jeniwren from Greigs Flat, New South Wales Australia on Sunday, July 24, 2011
Barry, you used to be so nice", Louisa Humphries frequently said to her son. Now, in his maturity, the Australian comedian reflects on his long journey away from niceness. Described by Barry as a "cubist self-portrait", "My Life As Me" revisits his childhood, his love-hate relationship with Australia and his adventures of the heart and stage. He tells us of his privileged youth in suburban Melbourne and describes his hectic artistic and romantic career in Australia, England and America. He also shares behind-the-scenes details of his life as creator and personal manager of Les Patterson, Sandy Stone and Dame Edna Everage. A natural talent as a writer with an easy going style Humphries makes sure this book is a delight to read.

Just finished this book... Wow what an interesting read. Again, not a book I would have otherwise read except for finding it perched on a park bench. I found this book to be an interesting and humorous read. Great for fans of Barry Humphries or Dame Edna. Next... I'm planning a wild release in the local area over the next couple days. If you find this book please leave a message to say where it has gone to.. Happy reading!
