From the back cover:

"The art gallery In the Walnut specializes in restoring and selling art under mysterious and suspicious circumstances... no questions asked! Run by the scruffy and roguish Tanizaki, he'll make a deal if the price is right... when he's not busy being pestered by his longtime partner Nakai, an aspiring filmmaker who has made Tanizaki his life's work! When the two are pulled into con jobs, family drama, and a museum robbery, can the keen artistic eyes of Tanizaki keep the gallery and his burgeoning relationship from imploding?"

Here's something you don't see every day--a yaoi manga that focuses more on plot than on sex. The story is engaging, the art is beautiful, and the relationship believable, which makes it stand out from the usual fare. Definitely a favorite!

I'm not usually much of a yaoi fan, but as 1010nabulation points out, this story's actually about more than just gay sex, so I enjoyed it quite a bit. The main character, Tanizaki, is an art dealer/conservator/restorer. In each chapter, he takes on a particular art project - usually something dealing with reproduction or detecting forgeries - while his lover/sidekick Nakai looks on, asking all the relevant questions so that a non-artist can understand all the technical terms Tanizaki uses.

The book could be divided into two sections; the first section revolves around Tanizaki and his work at "In the Walnut", the art gallery/restoration studio he inherited from his grandfather. This is very plot-driven, with a little bit of mystery in several chapters. The second section jumps backwards in time, first to the college lives of Tanizaki and Nakai and then to their pre-"In the Walnut" lives. While plot is still important, for the most part the chapters are much more sensual and typically yaoi.

I wonder if the second volume has been released yet...
