A good book for the beginning writer, The Writer's Mentor literally answers many of the common questions new wanna be authors have. It is set up in a question and answer format, which makes it easy to look up things up. And she has great suggestions for working with the information she gives. However, if you're a more advanced writer, this book is definitely not for you. It's pretty simplistic and basic, though fairly well written.
