6 out of 10

Finally read, it 's a fun read. Analytically I can see some flaws there, both in style and plotting, but it does not detract from wanting to read it and it's a perfect read for when does not feel up to anything demanding. Plot : Sally of the title decides to play at being a vamp and have a no-emotions affair with the perfect Richard. And has to eventually came to terms with they having fallen in love with each other. I wanted to scream at Sally a couple of times, but still it kept me turning the pages!

I am sending this book on a bookring, places still open if anybody is interested,

1 Katayoun, Iran
2 Hengameh, Iran
3 jawin, Australia

well the book was ok, though i agree not the usual freya north. actually the story was really good and i liked the feelings involved. what i didn't like and sometime definitely grated on my nerves was the style of writing. the style made me atleast, not to be able to get into the story and come to feel with the characters (and actually i thought sally quite likeable and would have liked to know her!). it also didn't have the usual flow of north's writing.
so nice story, not so nice writing style for me. and yet if you are a north fan, i would say read it. since there are not that many of her books anyway :)
thanks blossomu and i'm passing the book to hengameh, on thursday night at a friend's house, yippee good food and firends and i have a book to pass and so i'd be appreciated and loved! what more can a person want !

First thing I have read by this author, and it didn't do much for me. Fairly typical chic-lit type thing. I see from other comments this is not her usual style, so I'll reserve judgement.

I will mail it tomorrow on its way to wareagle 78 in the US.

I'm sorry, I just really did not like this book. The use of a narrator's point of view was irritating in a book like this, it read like a tennis match. And Sally's motivations for moving from nice girl to femme fatale were not well played out for me. It all seemed very contrived.

It was also too parochial in its use of slang terms. I'm probably just a spoiled American, so many books are set in the US and quite likely those native to elsewhere have the same problem with them that I did with Sally. But there were just entire paragraphs where I just had to guess and move on. I'm used to "wellies" and "telly" and such, but this was overboard.

I did like some of the characters, especially Richard and Aunt Celia and Catherine. But the journalistic viewpoint made it difficult to warm up to anyone.

This will be off to arugh48187 soon. Thanks for sharing, BlossomU!

This was just an okay book. I have certainly read better chic-lit, but it was entertaining all the same. I can't really put my finger on what was wrong with it that detracted from its rating. Anyway, it was a light read when I needed one to distract me from all the heavy ones that I have been reading.

Book has arrived, thanks everybody, it is amazing to get back a book which went around the world ( one day I will ship myself in a bookring, I am so envious of these books). I am planning to pass this book along to a relative who I think will like it.
