I purchased many copies of this book when it came out as I loved the website and wanted to support Jen. I had one more sitting on the shelf waiting for someone to need it -- when I saw that it was on Elstaplador's wishlist, and she was the winner of the International Sweeps, I knew where the book was going.

These cakes kept cracking me up! Though some were familiar from the blog, I loved the whole thing. Since Finnish groceries and bakeries sell mostly very basic cakes (chocolate covered, cream+berries, marzipan covered etc), these kinds of messes would be pretty hard to come by. Still, I'm keeping my eyes open and camera phone at hand...
It's really amazing how many kinds of cake typos there just can be - who could misspell Happy Birthday or a name like Chris?! While the misspellings and misunderstood orders provided the best laughs, I couldn't help wondering why the US seems to be obsessed with quotation marks..well, those little dastards have even gotten their own blog: http://www.unnecessaryquotes.com/
Bet some of the decorators must be colour blind, nothing else explains the I-barfed-a-rainbow -like messes or the poo coloured detestations! Though the wrecks are absolutely hilarious to look at, I can't stop feeling sorry for all the people who's big days have been ruined by the cakes... Wonder how many bakers/docorators have gotten fired thanks to their bad work being made public by the book or blog?

A lovely surprise was waiting for me when I came home from vacation today, this wishlist book. I've been reading the blog for several years now, although lately mostly for the inspiring Sunday Sweets, and I really like it. Looking forward to reading this book, and I'll munch on the chocolate from one of my favourite brands that came with it for the SGG while doing so. Thank you pippis!!
