summer travelers....

For those traveling this summer (especially by car), consider taking a load of labeled books and dropping them off as you go...restaurants, gas stations, etc. How about in the glove compartment of a rental car when you return the car?

That's funny. In about a week, I'm going to drive home from central Illinois to New York City. Before I leave, I'm planning on going to a used book store and buying copies of my favorites to release along the way. I'm going to leave book in every rest stop I pass, and in any gas station and fast food place that I stop at. I plan to do the same thing when I drive back to Illinois. I'm going to use post-its on the outside of the books. I'm also going to try to get children's and young adult books to leave in the rest stops. What parent wouldn't be thrilled to find a free book to keep their kid quiet for a few hours? I'll let you all know how it goes.

Hey Odin!

Let me know which route your taking so I can follow along behind you and get the pick of the crop! (Just Kidding) LOL Sal

Well, I made my trip and released seven books along I-70 and I-76 at rest stops. In each, I put a printout of the BOOK article (in addition to the bookcrossing bookplate, of course). I also put a "FREE BOOK! Look Inside" post-it on the cover of each. Now, we wait and see how well this method works and if I want to do it again on my way back in a week.
