The big label would (in my opinion) not bring people to the site. Why make a journal entry if you can already see everywhere the book has travelled? The BCID is the hook to reel them in. :)
Profile Image
... maybe those people who would never think of journalling would be more likely to jot their name/location in a book so we'd at least know where the book has been between journal entries ...
Profile Image
Yes, I was (later) thinking of the people with no internet access or skills, who might jot down a first name and a city if a space was available.

Hi All,

I've been using Secret Lives labels from the supply store, but I find the text is a little too small, so I created my own. It's nothing fancy and very simple, but does the job for me. I thought I'd share it with you.

http://bit.ly/7Faif7
(PDF file, 750KB)

6 labels on A4. The tagline at the bottom of the label is different on the top 3 and bottom 3. I couldn't decide which one to use, so used them both. haha.

I print the labels with my username and location typed in, because it looks neater (and I'm lazy). If you'd like this template with your username/location, please let me know and I'll make one for you :)

I make my own labels now, but will keep buying the bookmarks and "official BC book" round stickers. I really like them.

I know there's some lovely childrens labels here already but I've been given some childrens books which I intended to donate to a charity shop so of course I can't use a "free" book label.

Does anyone know of any "travelling" book labels suitable for kids books?
Profile Image
Check out the "Kids' sampler" on http://grubsneerg.blogspot.com.
Profile Image
I just found this thread. And your blog on bookcrossing. Wonderful.
I had a look at the labels for children's books (kids samplers) and will look at other labels as well.

I may translate to my own language (Dutch). Otherwise they are absolutely lovely.
;-)
Thanks a lot!

Just knocked together this page; "http://www.fishchipsandmushypeas.co.uk/bc/" which has totally free downloads for A4 Microsoft Word format (.doc) label templates I've created for;

Avery L3484, 16 per sheet.
Avery L7173, 10 per sheet.
Banner 9670019, 16 per sheet
Ascom, 16 per sheet.
Unknown Brand, 14 per sheet.

Hope that helps.

The 2011 BookCrossing Convention is less than three months away! I started collecting books to release while I'm there, and I created a commemorative label for them, so their readers will always know where their BookCrossing adventure began. You can download them on my blog at http://grubsneerg.blogspot.com . These measure 2" x 4" (I ordered some of the custom labels from the Supply Store, too, but I needed some that were smaller!).

The local BC in DC group, who are the hosts of this year's festivities, has a fantastic website at http://www.bcindc.zoiks.org that provides all the information any visitor to D.C. needs to have a fabulous, fun-filled adventure any time of year.

Any new labels, people?

http://www.megaupload.com/?...

I created some labels for the November Muppets Release Challenge - http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/465852 - featuring various characters from The Muppets, Sesame Street, Muppet Babies, and Fraggle Rock.

They are 2" x 4" and can be printed on Avery 5163 or Avery 5263 labels. 10 labels per sheet.

Megaupload makes you wait a few seconds before you can download for free. If anyone can suggest a better method for upload or would be willing to host on their site, please let me know, thanks.

And I hope to see some people participate in the Muppets Challenge! :)

Here's a preview image of the labels so you can see what they look like before you download them: http://img.photobucket.com/---/MuppetBookCrossingLabelsPreview.jpg

Just stumbled across this thread by accident just as I could do with labels to last until bookcrossing ones arrive. There are some great designs, I like to print onto A4 paper cut out and stick so it will be great to just do a few of each I like to mix things up a bit from the free print outs bookcrossing offer. Nice to see some black and white options too for those of us that can't afford lots of coloured ink usage but love the variety everyone has shared here
Thanks again

I made these for the front of my books... copied the wording from release note from Booklady331
This is the pdf file-- I printed on Office Depot 1 in x 2 5/8 in labels (30 per sheet). You can also use Avery 8660 or 5630 labels, 3M 3500-B or 3400-B labels. I tried some with the words in different colors as well.

Many moons ago I seem to recall a post where someone had made a sort of labelled wrap to go around books for wild releasing. From what I remember it was a strip of paper a couple of inches wide & the length of it folded around the closed book so there was a Ballycumber on the spine & wording/info on the front & back....I think!

Does anyone remember it or have a link to something similar I could use?

I think there are a number of us creating bookplates for the Olympic challenge - here's mine: http://www.flickr.com/---/8965647207/

I think one ought to be able to download it full size and then copy/paste into 9.91cm x 6.67cm labels - there is a template at http://www.whsmith.co.uk/---/WHS%20Labels%208%20per%20sheet.doc - or if you PM me with your email address I can send you the document ready made-up.
Profile Image
You guys should just be very very careful with the use of the word Olympics, which is a jealously guarded copyright from what I understand. For instance, the online knit and crochet site Ravelry was having something it called the Ravelympics, and I think they were required to change the name.
Profile Image
How do I "do" something with your photobucket labels? I particularly like the second one, and would like to make a sheet of them to print on self-adhesive paper. I just don't know how to do it!
Profile Image
How do I "do" something with your photobucket labels?

Try pasting them into a Word document, making a sheet of six or eight. That's how I'd do it.

Now why didn't I think of that? :)
Thanks, Moem.

Not doing the olympics, but I like your other labels, thanks. :)

chawoso and I designed a German label as part of the BC-Olympics. You can find it here:
http://abload.de/image.php?...

The dice in olympic colors say "READING" and the text can be translated as followed:

"Reading as an olympic event?
This is a very special book. It was neither lost nor forgotten, somebody released it here on purpose so it can be found and read. The book is registered on BookCrossing, a worldwide community about reading, exchanging and releasing books.
Please, got to http://www.bookcrossing.com and make an entry using the number given below so former readers will know where the book travels to.
This is voluntary, free and anonym!
After reading, just give it to friends or release it in the wild.
Take part in the book-relay!"

That Wayback Machine is way cool. And kind of scary. Once something has been on the Internet, it really is there forever.

Isn't it, though? That particular archive doesn't catch *everything*, but it does get quite a lot. I like being able to track down "lost" sites..but it could definitely have a downside.

And since you never know who's downloaded what, even without archiving, once you've posted something, there's no taking it back.

But now, that postage has become reasonable, I prefer to buy them from BC to support the site. I still make labels they don't make, such as a small cover label with BC address and place for the BCID, & label to go inside at the end of the story, also with BC address and BCID, but the labels they do make - the inside front of the book and spine label - I buy from BC.

I agree that we should support the site (I put in an order this week), but I want more variety in sizes & shapes than it would be practical for them to provide so I also print some at home. I think there's room for both types. :)

Oh, definitely. I can't use *only* official labels & sticky notes either; sometimes DIY fits the budget better.

I saw hyphen8's label which was to place inside of the back cover. I though it was nice. Using her phrase, I created the similar one adding QR code. The code is linked to "About Bookcrossing" page ( http://www.bookcrossing.com/about ), not HOME, because I thought it would give more information to non-members... I printed and scanned it, so I verified that the code was readable. You may be able to print it on Avery label, 1-1/3" x 4", 14 per sheet, but please test with another paper first whether it can be read by scanner.
https://drive.google.com/---/edit?...

I have only few self-created labels, and this is the link to my folder. I had created Japanese sticker & flyer, and Japanese/English label.

Just modified one of the 2x4 BC labels to include the Little Free Library Logo... I have it in PDF and word..in case you want to import prenumbered BC ID.
Its a bit time consuming but they do look nice all typed up.
Also added some stickers for the front/back. Kind of like the slim stickers, but not as colorful.
These are in PDF, and when you open it will want to print automatically.
Sorry I had to pull from the Avery templates.. I'll fix one of these days :) anyway those print in the Avery labels 1x2 5/8..... if you use neon color it's the product# 6479 or Avery address label product # 8660/5630
