The Magicians

Not a movie, but a mini-series, based on Lev Grossman's "Magicians" trilogy. I read The Magician King ( http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/13867590 ),the second book, a while back, and found it entertaining and surprisingly dark, with a heavy reliance on Fillory, a Narnia-like world that's also a lot darker than the one in the books. I only watched a couple of episodes for work, didn't have the time to catch-up with the rest on my own time, but I liked the dark themes and humour.
Are the books equally dark and witty? Well, the one that you read, at least?

Maybe I should add them to my reading list.
