Release wings - win some wings (and help Bookcrossing) No. 2 - Update: results of the release lottery

Probably most of you have already read Heather's and Bruce's update about their family's and Bookcrossing financial situation:

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/490537

Several threads have already started wonderful projects to help Bookcrossing financially. Yesterday I discovered a wonderful idea from cappuccino21 in the German Forum:

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/492195

Now I am copying this :-)

So, this is the deal: you make a themed wild release of a book: the title contains something wing-related like angel, bird, feather etc. Or you release the book at a location that has something to do with wings.

You post this book / the release here with a link.

After one week, I will make a tombola and 12 members will win wings for one month.

You may wing yourself or write the persons nickname that you want to give wings.

Any questions? No? Then go for it!

I'll have to see if I have anything I can release as part of this challenge. Thanks for the opportunity.

:-)

I´m going to relase these books:

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11338738/
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11326884/

If I win, please give the wings to babouchka79

Thanks for doing that. I really love the idea. I do not have so many books... But I found this one:

It is not directly related to wings. However: Ghosts can fly, right.... And I will release it in the parc where this morning so many birds were singing that I thought the neighbours will call the police because of all this rumor ;)

If I win, please give the wings to Lesela. She did ask a question in the forum I always wanted to ask but was too shy to do it...

I just found a book with wings on the cover, it will be my contribution in the wing lottery.

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/6226727
"Das fünfte Flugzeug" - John S. Cooper

I have already wings so I'm selecting Quilterin100, who had the book before and has no wings yet.
THX for this thread.

I thought you were going to require us to release a book with wings AND wing another BookCrosser as well. That might generate some money for the site.

If I win, please give my wings to Secretariat for the hard work she does bringing us a new Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Release Challenge week after week after week.

I released:
1. Dödergök (Hard to explain - it's a swedish play on words. Gök is the swedish word for the bird cuckoo) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10289818/ ; )
2. Lyckan är en sällsam fågel (The swedish word "fågel" means bird. The titel would be something like Happieness is a peculiar bird :-P ) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10280810/
3. Olycksfågeln (A swedish word meaning someone dogged by ill luck - in straight translation the word is something like "unlucky bird") http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10268554/

(Right now I have the strange feeling that my own language is totally wacked, but I guess every language has its peculiarities...)

I left a book in a pets store 'I know why the caged bird sings' by Maya Angelou (see the example by Moem, same cover). They don't sell 'real' birds over there, but I left it on top of a bird's cage. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11667857 If I win I would like to give away the wings to member sinterklaas.

Butterfly released in Wood Grouse. First I wanted to release Tykistönkadun päväperho (Butterfly of Street Tykistönkatu) by some winged sculpture - but then I started to read it (didn't finish it, though) and changed my mind. Whoever finds it, they must have a chance to scan the text before deciding wheter to take the book with them or not. So I took it to our main library book swap shelf. However, the library building is called Metso (Wood Grouse), so I doubled the wings in this release after all. ;-)
Here's my release http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11842490/

Oh my, I won! THANK YOU so much. My wings seem to be extended already.
This was such a good idea. I just wished there had been more time - I had several winged books but I wanted to read them first. And I do trust those ones I want to finish, too.

May be this is a challenge that can be repeated in a while, BookCrossing is worth supporting, so Thank you for this challenge!

Maybe someone else starts a third lottery in a few weeks?

;-)

RE: Oooh!

Yippiyippiyippi!

I am happy that you are happy :-) You were really creative!!! (This wasn't a requirement, as it is a tombola, but it made the whole thing much more fun :-D

Every night last week I came home and was looking forward to reading about the new releases.

The wings should be visible in a few hours.

Released a plane http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/6226727 because they have also wings ;) I have already wings so I'm selecting Quilterin100, who had the book before and has no wings yet.

there is a series of books in a special edition for schools, that we can often find second hand, and they're called Blackbirds and have a picture of a wing on the cover! http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11582401 I put it on the birds feedingtable outside the petshop.

Profile Image
Wow, I was just grounded (april 19th) and now I get wings again. Thank you very much Olagorie for letting me fly .

Here's my release. Wild released "The Cardinal of the Kremlin" by Tom Clancy at Helping Hands Food Pantry. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8187191

This themed release contains a blue duck, gulls and a falcon.

Blue Duck's Wak-Wak by Alexandre Vialatte. Je joue pour mahasiah74.

All three released at Wild Birds Unlimited, 50 Maine Mall Rd, South Portland, Maine.

Edith says: it seems the third book got swallowed by a big nightingale. I am sure I got it somewhere on or under my desk ...

In my bad english : l just released a book today which is themed to wings : "Constantin and the 40 ducks" - ducks have got wings. If I win, I'd like the wings to be for MamanLili who is a really good friend.
