(done) Nepal is a mess ;-)

The Nepal release zones are quite a mess.... And actually there has been an administrative reform, there are 7 provinces now instead of the former 14 zones. But things might still change (sometimes municipalities are shifted) and the new provinces haven’t got names yet (just numbers). So maybe it’s better to reorganise this a bit later.

I start here: Nepal States/Provinces:
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/138

- It would make sense to rename Bagmati: Bagmati (incl. Kathmandu valley) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10901
- Banepa should be listed under Bagmati (a city, not a province)
- Ghandruk is not a province, the two places listed under it should be moved under Gandaki http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8648 (to make it easier Gandaki could be renamed “Gandaki (incl. Pokhara, Gorkha, Bandipur)”
- Goraksheep Everst Base Camp Periche is no province neither, those are three different places (and it is Pheriche). The places listed there should be merged:
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/72020 can be merged into Gorak Shep (that’s the correct spelling) http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/83227
The crossing zone http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/328956 is wrong - the Everest Base Camp is not in Pheriche, that’s a village a bit lower. So better merge it into the above mentioned Gorak Shep.
- Hetauda http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/6489 is a city in the Narayani zone, so it should be listed under http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10910
- http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10239 haha, wrong country! Lhasa happens to be in Tibet, so that Hotel Mandala should be listed here http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/89231
- Kathmandu http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11003 should be listed under Bagmati, as it isn’t a zone, but if you move it with the contents there’s one level too much – no idea how to deal with such a case.
Move http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/691904 and http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/827842 under http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt/138/10901/65401? As well as everything that’s listed here: http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/94524
- http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8598 can be deleted, it isn’t a zone, what’s listed here, http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/77404 should be listed under Lalitpur http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/153252
- Lalitpur http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/8599 is not a zone, it’s on the wrong level, it should be under Bagmati. What’s listed there is partly wrong too, what’s Kathmandu doing there http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt/138/8599/156828? Should be merged into http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/65401
- m-bag is totally wrong here, the crossing zone under it http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/379398 might be merged into
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/382100
- Rolwaling is no zone http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt/138/1802/, can be deleted (or merged into Sagarmatha) and http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/36200 belongs under Sagarmatha http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/9231
to another postcrosser is no release zone http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/51031 - no idea what to do with it
- Sauraha Chitwan http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/5086 needs to be merged into Narayani http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10910 (maybe rename Narayani: “Narayani (incl. Chitwan)”
- Sagarmatha Everest National Park should be renamed Sagarmatha, that’s the name of the zone http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/9231

- “unknown” … what’s listed here:
Bandipur should go under Gandaki, can be merged into the Bandipur listed there already
Bhaktapur, wrong level, should be under Bagmati, but it’s empty anyway
"don’t know yet"… maybe move it under -wild released somewhere in state
Ghorepani, twice… should be under Dhwalagari http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10903 (actually better renamed it Dhaulagiri, that name is commonly used)
Hetauda, we had that before, it should be listed under Narayani
Kathmandu goes under Bagmati
Korunni???? never heard of it, can’t find it…. there’s no place in Nepal to be found with that name… what to do?
Nagarkot should be listed under Bagmati
both Pokharas go under Gandaki and can be merged with http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/93967

And all those doubles listed under Bagmati can be merged http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10901 (Bhaktapur, Dhulikhel)

Thanks a lot!!!

If anybody’s happy to clean up more I can go through the crossing zones in Bagmati and Gandaki

I tried to take care of as many as I can.
While I can rename individual release zones, I cannot rename a city or state, so some of them cannot be done.
Please check to see if I have missed out anything.

The truth is, most of the time tourists don't really know what region, state or province a certain city is in. Of course a bit of research can yield the answer, but many won't go through the trouble, it's just easier to create a new zone.

I'd be more than happy to help with more clean up, but maybe next time put fewer entries in one post. Then it won't look so intimidating, and easier for us to spend a few minutes and get it done.

Thank you so much! I'll look through it and put those you couldn't do in a new thread or two.

Yes! Exactly that's why I suggested renaming the zones so people would find for example Kathmandu right away.

Sorry about that. When I had posted it all I realised that it might be a bit much... Will restrain myself in the future :-)
