Oh, help.

Team Tophat is already leading and they get to steal a point? Yikes! :p

The whale watching season has already started here - some independent minded whale decided to set its own schedule. This book is also bucking the trend: normally the whales travel south to Hawaii, but this book is headed north as Team Battleship's Community Bookshelf release for turn 13.

I don't know how long it will take to get where it's going, but sometimes airmail is surprisingly quick, so since the book was mailed on Saturday, I want to get this on the record before it arrives. :p

Bha mi a' dol dhan sgoil... ard-sgoil Gaidhlig Glaschu, agus bha mi fag leabhar 'Teacher's Dead' a th' ann.

Pidgeon Gaelic... I left Benjamin Zephaniah's 'Teacher's Dead' at the Glasgow Gaelic School when attending my choir practice - really hope this finds a reader as he's one of my favourite authors.

Ok - here goes:

We released the book The Summer WIthout Men by Siri Hustvedt
In this book Mia's husband of thirty years asks her for a pause to indulge his infatuation with a young Frenchwoman. Mia cracks up first, then decamps for the summer to the prairie town of her childhood, where she rages, fumes, and bemoans her sorry fate as abandoned spouse. --> Thus she lives on the edge.

This book was released in Bergen by the Varg Veum statue. Varg Veum is the fictious anti-hero in the crime novels by Gunnar Staalesen. Varg is a private detectice with quite a hang to solving cases his own way. (Not following the rules!) --> Thus he works On the edge of the law.

The books was released in Bergen, the western 'edge' of Norway.

I got my friend to take a picture of the release (a picture which I haven't gotten hold of as yet), and I can sure tell you she was on the edge whilst we did the release! I think she just wanted me to leave the book and run! (Do you remember your first releases were you felt more like a criminal than a bookcrosser?)

Funny : I just read this book last week... (in french).
I didn't really like it.
Nice release, I wouldn't have thought at something so elaborated ! :o)

Here's our release for this week.

http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/6357814

And here's a translation of the releasenotes.

This book is released for the bookcrossing monopoly game.

This weeks turn is: Recommend a favourite.

The Hobbit is one of my favourite books and today is a special day for this book. Today is it's 75th anniversary. This is celebrated all over the world with something that Hobbits love, Second Breakfast.

Whilest enjoying a delicious second breakfast I released this book in a cafe called Bagels & Beans.

Hopefully someone will enjoy this book and maybe enjoy a Second Breakfast too.

After a conference Deepswamp took a walk of a couple of km's through Stockholm, arriving at Restaurang Rött (which translates as Restaurant Red), and put her foot (in a non-red shoe but with red shoe laces) up at a red chair in the outdoors area. Wraped up in a red blanket (it's getting chilly now in Scandinavia) she ordered a glass of red wine. Brougth up the red book (De röda skorna = The red shoes) and released it on the table - wishing it good luck - and started the walk back!

We were scratching our heads for this one and although I'd found a book with a pink cover, I wasn't sure this release was going to work out.

However I found the perfect spot and I'm quite pleased with it:

The book was a childhood favourite, Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11190319
and the edition released had a pink cover!

I released the book earlier today in the Gordon Brown Memorial Garden in Troon, which is a wee secret garden tucked in behind the local library. A lovely sunny day so hopefully someone will find it, and the garden was a riot of pink geraniums.

For this turn, we landed on "square".
I released a square-shaped book with a square-shaped note on a almost-square-shaped seat in the Square Henri Barbusse.

there are two castles at the centre of Stuttgart - an old one, a new one. So I had to decide - release a new book at the old castle or an old book at the new castle... Finally I decided to do the second release - here it is: http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10527038

The light blues were our special task for this turn. And if you suffer from the death blues (Todesblues) what better way to get rid of it than having a drink or two at a bar. And what better place to leave a blue book at the bar "Blauer Affe" (Blue Monkey) because after having all those drinks to get over your blues if you are three sheets to the wind in German you are "blue" (blau). We hope that the person who will pick up this book is not "blue", or if so only "lightly" in order for us to expect a nice journal entry.

This turn we were in jail and were instructed to steal a point. Thoughts turned to team scottie dog and we quickly realised who must be the most famous scottie dog!

So we gathered up our own snowy/scottie dog and set of to help Tintin solve a mystery by leaving "The Calculus Affair" at Leeds University Physics Dept. where I am sure lots of mathmatical problems are solved!

Extra day!

so, I am unexpectedly being forced to go to a posh hotel for a couple of days where I will sit around drinking tea and eating cake entirely against my will. Life is tough.

Upshot of this horrific turn of events is that I won't be able to do the turn round up or new turn challenges on time because my fingers will be too fat from cake for me to type.
So... I'm extending the deadline for this turn to Wednesday morning, 10AM London Time. Hurrah!
I'll do the round up and new challenges on Wednesday

Like team Thimble we had the field "in the Middle". For this we took the book "Der Hexenanwalt", because it's the second - so THE MIDDLE - book of a triologie. Sadly near me there is no Middlestreet, so we had to think about another place. And what is better for the "witches advocate" as an advocate? ;-)
So now the book is waiting at the stairs in front of an advocate and hopes that someone helps him getting down of the funeral pile :-)

Here is the link to the book: http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10374432

We had a free release and left a book at IKEA. The book is called "Gut Nacht, mein Geliebter" (engl.: Good night, my lover), so the book can be found on a pillow in a snugly bed!

Ha! Good job, teammate! That one has a burning desire to be caught!

(Now if someone would help me get down off my crutches I'd be a lot happier.)

@GoG: My heart is positively bleeding for you in this, your moment of pain!

Playing for Pizza by John Grisham is about Rick Dockery, an NFL player, whose professional football career is in tatters. He moves to Italy to play for the Parma Panthers.

Surprisingly, I discovered we have a South Australian Gridiron Association so I released this book at a game between the Chief and Spartans at Port Noarlunga Oval:
