Help !!!

For this turn, team Moneybag landed on "Community Bookshelf". That means that we are going to send someone one of his/her wishlistbooks.
But... a lot of your wishes are english books and we have almost only french books at home. We can buy some english books, but they are expensive.
So, we just would like to know if some of you would be happy to receive a french book. And which one.
You can MP me the answer or let a message here in the forum.
Thank you !

RE: Help !!!

oh! Gosh, I never thought of that :$ umm....

I know Wyando speaks french (can't say how how fluently) so maybe he'd be up for receiving something? do we have anyone else who'd be interested? or I have the harry potter books 2-7 in french on my wishlist.
Does anyone have children studying french that a recommend book would be enjoyed by them? Or maybe someone is studying themselves? I think we can stretch the definition of wishlist in this case ;)

Reading French too and myös daughter is studying French in school and she likes manga if you would happen to have those. For me any fantasy or scifi is ok ...

RE: Help !!!

Speaking or reading french is somehow different for me - speaking goes well, reading is not an option (at least not a whole book). Nevertheless, I take any book in any language, as long it's ok, that I just release them :)

Our book wanted to travel around, so it searched for a hotel. It went to a big cityhotel, but the poor book was frightened getting lost. So it searched for a bookhotel to sleep in. In a beautiful forest, it found a hotel for travelbugs, built by some geocachers. The book got a room and waits for some travelers to go on a journey alas a backpacker.

... and here is the book with a release picture. http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11202510/
If I were a book I would love to stay one night in this hotel. What a view!

For Collect the Light Blues we released On Mystic Lake by Kristin Hannah. We decided to release this book because it is blue & water is also 'blue'. We released this book at the local shopping centre because "Blue" is a very famous resturant in a shopping centre in Amsterdam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue%C2%B0), use your imagination & you will be transported there.

For In the Middle we released The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. We decided to release this book because it is the middle book of the series. We released this book at the local shopping centre because it is the social centre of town...

woomph woomph

so, I made my 'Fifth Dimension' release today...

I headed to the southbank, planning to clip a book to the bandstand there with the lamest excuse for a themed release ever - but it was the best I could come up with, but when I got there.... the bandstand was gone. I knew it was only a tempory thing, but I though it would be there all summer not just for two weeks! Disaster.
So i wandered round, trying to glean inspiration... and came across a Far Better release spot - in fact a perfect release spot
This... weird sculpture thing, around the coloums underneath the festival hall... bright green and all in and out waves.... it looked to me juts like the 'womph - womph' effect they draw in cartoons when wierd stuff is happening (timewarps, inter-dimensional manouverings, etc)... so where better to leave the book?

(pictures when i get home and can upload them)

the Sound of Gravity can be heard across the galaxy.... http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/10140546 .... woomph woomph

THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS MESSAGE IS CLASSIFIED... TO BE DESTROYED ON READING

Our free release was a top secret mission for junior spies... location classified but the drop off point was the wall outside Garnetbank Primary School (and not Garnethill as I wrote when I created the zone - that was to throw the enemy off the scent, and because for a spy, I don't pay very much attention...)

In true spy fashion the book was released in a white envelope marked 'TOP SECRET'

For those of you, who don't know who Tesla was, this will help:
http://theoatmeal.com/---/tesla

As also a reaction of Forbes on this comic:

Profile Image
For those of you, who don't know who Tesla was

the fact that there exist people who do not know who Tesla is, is a demonstration of all that is wrong with the world. Tesla is the original badass.
AND he was played by David Bowie in The Prestige, which lead to a double-badassness that totally made up for an otherwise sucky film.

Here's the oatmeal's response to the forbes response to the original comic; http://theoatmeal.com/---/tesla_response

Go Tesla!

History is full of people who stole patents, ideas and credit. Look at Bell and the telephone. (No, it wasn't Bell who invented the telephone, it was Meucci, who lost the patent because he didn't have the money to renew it... guess who snapped up the patent and the credit!)

I like the bit about how to tell a real Geek from a non-Geek!

Wanna smoosh our private parts together?
No sorry, I have to calibrate this machine...

Hahaha!

For turn 6, Team Battleship landed on Hotel. There just happen to be a few of those in Waikiki...but sometimes figuring out what to do once you get there is a challenge, especially if you have kids along. A building with vacation rental condos is more likely to have families than honeymooners., so we released "Fun with the Family Hawaii" in the hopes that it will help a family enjoy their vacaction!

Team Wolf are an inclusive team, we like to spread wolf cheer and reading to everyone.  To celebrate our poetry release we set out to a large sculpture in the centre of Wellington called Invisible City.  These two slabs of gleaming metal contain part of a poem written about a beloved dog.

As you can see, the poem is in Braille and the dog was the author's second guide dog.

Team wolf released "Poems in the Waiting Room, Autumn 2012" in uncontracted Braille along with a card containing the Braille alphabet and a version of the poems in printed word.

With a book called "Lost in the Funhouse",
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/7651942/
nothing else to do than find a Funhouse.
So we decided to go to the local amusementpark Linnanmäki to leave the book in the Funhouse. To start with, we got lost on the way there, taking the wrong tram, but we did make in in the end, just took the long road there (never understood the logic of circular tramlines that change number in the middle).

To make sure we wouldn't get lost again, we went first to the information desk to ask for a map of the park, and noticed that map doesn't help you a lot either (see journal entry of the book) :(

After we tried to guess what strange name in Finnish the Funhouse would have in the park, we still spend some time running around, wondering why steps that seem to go up on the map go down and vice versa ...

But we did make it out and manage to write down the release notes, still hoping someone will find the book there and write a note about it, without getting lost on the BookCrossing site (can be hard to understand how to make a journal entry, as the site seems to expect you to know so many things about the book and how to use those pulldown choises).

We passed go and landed on underground. Here was a problem: How do you go free and go underground at once? Passmaster solved it, rabbits do both! So we found two copies of Watership Down and sent the bunnies on their journey.

My rabbits did not do so well.... They took their 'free choice' and rather than strive for a better living by trying new things, they tried to stay safe and underground. Eventually, taking the known path and drifting, they found themselves at Ground Zero. That sounds safe, they thought. Well, we will leave them there, tethered to their fears and past experiences. If they had only listened to Fiver, and tried something new, their journey might have had a more traditional end. Instead they wait outside an underground bar that caters to Bondage games.

Passmaster's rabbits found a better fate. High on Rabbit Hill they live in freedom and peace. Their choice was better:

Team Tulip was allowed to do a free release due to passing the Start position again. We decided to head out to Beaulieu to release The World According to Clarkson at the Top Gear exhibition. We felt that in this book of columns, Jeremy Clarkson has really strayed from his car-based past and we thought it would be good for him to go back to the start of his career with Top Gear and car-related shenanigans.

Once I have internet up and running at home again I will attach the release picture.

We landed on the square Cloud Nine. Cloud Nine translates into Syvende HImmel (The Seventh Heaven) in Norwegian & Swedish.
So what is The Seventh Heaven to Team Racecar?
The obvious - books!
Because we are woman, shopping & clothes.
- and of course Chocolate.

Thus the book Chocolate for a Woman's Soul was released (with some chocolate) outside the wonderful clothes shop Syvende Himmel.

I took a photo of the release, but I can't find the cord for the camera! I'll have to have a proper look later on.

The book: http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/11209757

Translation of the entry:

There were no fast ideas in our minds regarding the task "go" ... What to do to wake up our brains... first a coffee... Wherefrom? The best would be a fast coffee "to go" ... go - to go... Why not a book from Togo? Fast view through the shelves - and released the card of Togo - and to calm down from all this stress enjoyed another coffee - to go, naturally
