Wolf

Two of the Team Wolf members had a face to face meeting on Saturday in Belgium (keeping it international!) to work out strategies and practice our wild releasing skills. We also shared the experience with bookguide from Team Iron.

We put books outside shops, hanging off fences and trees, perched on statues of lions, birdcages and waffles (well, it was Belgium!), awaiting a withdrawal on cash machines, and even flinging them onto the backs of horse drawn carriages.

Hopefully all this practice will make week six a success for us.

Sounds like a grand time!

I especially like the flinging into the back of a carriage :)

@kiwiinengland: You forgot ApoloniaX from Team Thimble, who initiated this meetup in the first place. :P Glad you had a grand time, good luck to Team Wolf for turn 6!

opps, I thought she was just involved in the Germany version of the game. Of course she was in Brugge also, making lots of releases.

As our team received a free release for passing Go, we decided to do a topical release to celebrate the film release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. In aid of this, a copy of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released at the local cinema, to hopefully attract not only booklovers, but also Harry Potter film fans :o) Due to the possibility of You Know Who snooping around the cinemas, searching for the real Harry Potter, we decorated the book to look like Harry himself, to act as a decoy so that the real Harry Potter could escape, if he was hiding nearby :o) So as to not blow our cover, I couldn't take a picture of fake Harry at the cinema, but someone did walk away with him after the film had finished so paws crossed for a journal entry!

cute release, scottie-dogs :) and how did you like the new one???
Profile Image
Thanks :o) I enjoyed the film, but it was lacking something. I much prefer all the books to the films anyway; the first few were close to the book storylines but, as was bound to happen, too much information is missed out in the last few films for my liking (even though they made two parts to the final). Have you seen it? Did you enjoy?

I recently watched all the earlier films, in anticipation of the last, but then I have not yet made it to the theater. Ya, in any book to film there is always much missing (all the more when they are huge volumes!) I try to just approach them as the different mediums they are, with differing needs and abilities, and am satisfied if the film keeps the focus and feel of the book. That usually works for me :) Well, it does if the filmmaker hasn't made a total mash of the story. I do look forward to this final Harry.

OUr go was city centre. Thus I've releases a cookbook in my city, because my city were hosting a food festival called GladMat (Happy Food) from Wednesday - Saturday. http://www.gladmat.no/ The book was released outside a caravan painted as a giant strawberry.

Due to the tragic events in Norway, the last day of the festival was cancelled.
And - my release was done before those events.

This is a book I've been waiting to release at this exact spot.

The book is the Norwegian edition of Stardust by Neil Gaiman.
The release spot is the shape of a star in a rock, the place is called Landing Place for Angels. Could it be more appropriate for a book about a falling star?

Just visiting

Well, after dealing with our own case of malaria sickness Team canon decided to go visit poor Team Boot (the Team with the most points) to make them feel better.
Because you usually bring flowers to a sick person we brought a book called
"Statt Blumen" = "instead of flowers" and left it in an old Boot in front of the ShoeTown

hilarious - hehehe
Profile Image
Was team Boot going too fast? When a canon comes around you are happy "only" to give a point! We were good, but if this makes us better......
Profile Image
Much as I hate being gunned down, that was well done, cannon~

We have fun with this one! A book about how baby is born next to a giant sperm!

Great releases! Bonus for the Thimblans, but double bonus for me! Hours after our extra release, I got a journal alert for a book I'd wild-released on my USA trip last year:
http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/7582455

It's my second catch ever! I'm thrilled, and sure that Bally worked some charm on my BC karma during his short stay here! :)

I love it!

And thank you to our hostess for writing another great end of the turn summary, I always enjoy reading those.
