London Meet Up Saturday 21st October

Finnish Bookcrosser Pippis is in London from 17-24 October and would like to meet up with some Bookcrossers.

We haven't had a Meet up since the Camel and Artichoke closed. Maybe we could meet up on the weekend 21 and 22 October and have a release Walk afterwards. Who wants to join us and what ideas do you have for a location?

ETA we are meeting at 1200 hours on Saturday 21st October at Knights Templar pub

Thank you for starting the thread, Poodlesister! It'd be great to have a coffee/pint and a few good laughs with other crossers! I haven't planned anything yet, so any day, any time, pretty much anywhere would be fine :)

For lunch and a release walk (after discussion with Rahar109) looks like a good option.

This sounds absolutely perfect! Not sure whether Mr pippis (aka House Nerd) will join us, but he might be lured by the fact we'll be meeting at a pub..

Haven't seen Pippis for years (Gothenburg convention).

If I can I will come down for the day, I won't know what my plans are until a few days before so will update you then.

Thanks for the book and everything else - I will JE it at some point :)

ETA just realised rahar109 going to - it would be nice to catch up again.

Hello all!

It would be good to see you all again, if I can work in joining you briefly around work... Where abouts is the pub you're thinking of?

Chancery Lane. Opens at 1100.

Ok, great - depending what times you plan on I should be able to pop along between shows or before I start :)

What time would be best for you? I was thinking 1200 but we could start earlier if you couldn't do that, I'd love to see you.

Hi, Great idea, I should be able to make it (thanks for the DM). Haven't got too many books at present as I've set up a little free book box outside my flat http://www.bookcrossing.com/---/816678 Had lots of success in encouraging neighbours to leave books but not so much in getting people to join bookcrossing! Are you thinking of an 11am start?

I was thinking 1200 but Vekiki is working so might make it an earlier start if that means she can make it.

12 works for me, I start work just before 2 on the other side of the West End so that would give me an hour or so with you guys :)

Noon would be perfect on a lazy holiday 😊 It'll be great to see all of you!

Thank you Poodlesister for the book and your message: I will come if I'm in London. Not sure yet as it's half term and I might seize the opportunity to get out of town with my daughter. I do know I'm travelling on 24th so perhaps I will be here.

Sorry, I've really got out of the habit of checking my yahoo mail and the Bookcrossing boards. I'll definitely be joining you all on Saturday & I have heaps of books to bring (might have to dig out the wheely suitcase!

What a shame, we'll have to organise another one.

Hi all!

What a lovely afternoon, was great to meet you all.

I really enjoyed our little release walk afterwards and I have now ordered some release bags myself, next time I'll bring more books to leave in the wild!

See you all again soon I hope.

Thank you!

Thank you everyone for coming to the meet-up! You really made my Saturday with all the laughs and chats and you definitely made the luggage a lot heavier :D It was great to meet old and new crossers alike, can't believe what an amazing community this is!

Discarded books were mentioned at the meet-up, and I thought I'd share an amazing way of giving old books a new life: a little handicraft community in Estonia makes everything from journals to treasure boxes and secret compartments. http://www.tartuensis.com/ and https://www.etsy.com/---/StudioTartuensis (just a tip: if you order straight from them, you might get items a bit cheaper than through Etsy)

Oh dear I'm so sorry I have been in Poland for a week and just remembered that I meant to try to get to this before I left. Sorry to have missed you.

There is another one on 15th November - see kirjakko's post!

Thanks: I found it! Can't make it BUT perhaps people can come to the beautiful location that is really part of secret London, for a concert of Gaelic song that I am hosting that evening (so I won't be going to the meetup...) http://bit.ly/1WZfz9j
