BookCrossing in Vancouver
by eicuthbertson 5 yrs ago (2/19/2011)

Well, for sure, the best place to get a book journalled in Vancouver area is to release it at a Lower Mainland BookCrossing Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/bcbooks
Let us know when you'll be here. We'd love to get together.

And this year is Vancouver's 125th birthday, so there are special events and exhibits going on: http://www.celebratevancouver125.ca

I find books released at the Central Branch Vancouver Public Library get picked up fast, but they're not necessarily journalled. I'll ask our BookCrossing Meetup members which places they suggest.

Vancouver-area BX zones?
by 4thEstate 5 yrs ago (2/12/2011)

I'm going to be spending some time in Vancouver and southern British Columbia in June, and I'm hoping to do a few BX releases while I'm there. Can any of you recommend a good place to release a book?

The Vancouver Art Gallery

It's my hometown! Back when I still lived there, I had great luck at the art gallery - but it MIGHT be closed for renovations right now. If it is, I'd say any museum or gallery, because people tend to be observant of their surroundings there, so they'd notice an out-of-place book on a bench.

Other than that, you'll need to get advice from someone who's lived there more recently than I have... so much has changed!

I've left themed releases at the VAG but never had one journaled.
Check Vancouver under Go Hunting . Lots of places there.

We have the great pleasure to announce new Bookcrossing event in Vancouver. Books written by Polish authors and translated into English will be placed in coffee bars around Vancouver. Official date for Book Polishing in Vancouver has been set for 24 of July! Expect Polish books appearing in coffee shops (especially in these with bookshelves) close Gastown, Main Street, Commercial and Broadway. More info about project you can find here: https://www.facebook.com/BookPolishing
