What is "Women's Fiction"?

While registering books, I noticed the category "Women's Fiction," but no corresponding category of "Men's Fiction." Please explain what "Women's Fiction" is - books written by women, books about women, books small enough to fit in women's dainty hands, books for a course on women's studies, or what?

Well, of course it is fiction suitable to be read by women. With permission from their husbands, fathers, uncles, brothers or legal guardians. I'm surprised you need to ask...

Thanks for clearing that up. Now, without a man to guide me, how can I determine which books are suitable for women to read? Do I look for a simple vocabulary, short sentences, colorful cartoon characters, recipes, knitting patterns or diagrams for gynecological self-exams?
