Beverly is a traditional-style artist whose love for animals and nature can be seen in her mixed media art. Experimentation led her to a technique of combining colored pencils with pastel or water-based media.

Beverly studied art in Southern California. Her interest in art started with graphite pencil, then expanded to watercolor and pastels. Both during and after high school, she studied art, focusing primarily on portraiture. In 1986 she graduated from Fullerton Community College with a degree in Art. Moving to Boise in 1991 was a turning point for her that led to some important changes in her artistic direction. Idaho has tremendous natural beauty and this inspired her to focus more on, as the subject of her art, the beautiful mountains, streams and indigenous wildlife that are a part of Idaho. Another major change was when she discovered colored pencil and then started mixing this with watercolor or pastels. Recently, she has begun to use blending tools such as colorless blenders and turpentine in her colored pencil work. Today, she has her own business, Chick Artistic Creations (www.chickartisticcreations.com). She teaches art classes within the Boise community and at her home in Boise, Idaho and has also converted part of her home into a gift shop/art gallery and an art classroom.

Beverly is currently represented by the Sawtooth Artisan's Gallery and Gift Shop in Stanley, Idaho, the Third Street Gallery in Moscow, Idaho and the Cornerstone Gallery in Nampa, Idaho. She is also a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America. Her art is featured each year at the Boise Art Museum at the Beaux Arts Societe Arts for Christmas bazaar. She exhibits her art in Idaho, in various restaurants, hospitals and other businesses, and in outdoor art shows. Her art is often featured as a part of the monthly First Thursday Gallery Stroll in downtown Boise. Each year she receives many commissions for her Stone Critters (hand painted rock animals) or colored pencil/pastel portraits. She has participated in art exhibits in both Southern California and Idaho and has won several awards for her art. In 1999 she was commissioned to do a portrait of three Star Trek celebrity actors for Slanted Fedora Entertainment. Prints of this portrait were sold at various Star Trek conventions. Each year she receives many portrait commissions and her art is in private collections across the country, including the private collection of actors Nichelle Nicholes, George Takei, and Jimmy Doohan from the original Star Trek and actor Geraint Wyn Davies from the television series, Forever Knight. Her work has also been published in Cat Fancy Magazine.

Beverly feels a strong bond with animals and animals in nature. "I believe that animals and nature have the power to touch and renew the human spirit in profound ways and I want my art to reflect this," says the artist.
