corner corner SILENCE THE SCEPTICS AND SHOW THE WORLD THE POWER OF BOOKCROSSING!

BookCrossing is a social phenomenon and I believe it can also be an instrument for social change. All important movements in history have begun at the grassroots level. I believe that BookCrossing can be a vehicle for driving change simply by being consistent with its primary mission of connecting people through books.

2 December 2010 is International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. On this day, I will release over 100 books ‘into the wild’, labelled with the following message:

This book has been set free to symbolise the hope that one day all victims of sex trafficking and slavery will also be free.

I urge all BookCrossers to help raise awareness for this issue by releasing books during December with the above message included. Facebook members can also show support by joining ‘Kim’s BookCrossing Campaign for PROJECT FUTURES’.

Conservative estimates say there are currently 3 million women and children being held against their will and enslaved in the sex trade across the world. Over 2 million more will be trafficked into sexual slavery in the next 12 months. Some will be as young as 5 years old.

Please consider making a donation, no matter how small, at Kim's Wild Book Campaign and identify yourself as a BookCrosser. All funds raised go towards rescuing and rehabilitating children from brothels in Cambodia via the Somaly Mam Foundation.

Great for the cause. Great for the profile of BookCrossing. Great for driving social change.
