Close Encounters of the Bookcrossing Kind

My First Bookcrossing Meeting

I had never been to the BookCrossing meetings that were held locally in my area. The most recent meeting was posted on one of the forum boards here at www.bookcrossing.com so I decided to post a reply that I would be interested.

When I arrived at the meeting it didn't take long for there to be a big group. I was pleasantly surprised at both how nice they were and also how many books they brought to contribute. Someone even brought a laptop, and could register books left on the shelf, or help find out information.

This particular establishment had a bookcase dedicated to BookCrossing books that were available for people to enjoy. The number of books on the shelf also surprised me as well as the different types of books of interest that a perspective BookCrosser might like to read.

If at first all this excitement is overwhelming that's okay. The point is to have a good time trading books. There is no pressure to bring a book and yes you can and are still encouraged to take them. I'm looking forward to another meeting at another coffee shop and meeting even more local BookCrossers.
